How to sell gold when there is a lot of competition

We came into nice amount of money recently. Our uncle from West Midlands died in a car accident and his last will told that all his resources of jewelry become our possession in case he dies. He was already eighty years old, so it is no wonder that the last will was ready, just in case. The fact that he died in a car accident is just a coincidence, he could as well die from a simple disease or something like that. We are quite lucky that we got so much treasures from somebody we barely even knew! We just met once or twice in a lifetime. I think we must have made a wonderful impression on this older man. Now we can put our hands on his golden earrings, necklaces, bracelets and the rest of priceless jewelry items that are just beautiful. Now we are in a phase of considering all the possibilities, we know that there always is a chance to sell gold. If so, when and how to do it? is there anything like a place where we can sell gold? A jewelry store? A goldsmith? I don"t really know, I have never wanted to sell gold, I have never actually had anything to sell I should rather say. My father told me that there is nowadays a lot of competition and the person who is the potential customer actually has all the power. When there is a lot of competition, there is always the chance to pick up the best offer, you know? That is what I like about it. I am the master of the situation in a way.
